The opportunity

The Assistant Kitchen Manager will help lead and develop a high performing team, responsible for crafting Vancouver’s finest ice cream. This person will join a values based business in a leadership position and will contribute to systems development and innovation. We’re looking for someone with curiosity, consistency, creativity and a passion for quality. This person is just as comfortable working with people as they are with numbers.

Responsibilities include:

  • running shifts, scheduling, prioritizing and delegating daily tasks
  • leading team, recruitment & training
  • daily tasks; batch prep, pinting, equipment set up, maintenance, tear down, and cleaning
  • maintaining a clean and food safe kitchen
  • flavour development
  • quality control
  • product testing & development
  • inventory management, costing, sourcing
  • ordering/receiving

You are:

  • A team player, enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Have pastry/kitchen experience
  • A proactive leader and strong communicator
  • Experienced in fast paced, high volume food service
  • Have a sense of urgency and experience in a fast paced environment
  • Excited about working for a small business that is ever growing and searching for innovation and new ideas
  • Available weekends
  • Efficient, paying extra attention to detail
  • Food Safe Certified
  • Okay with physical work; lifting, repetitive movement
